L’Esperance Mandolin Ensemble is pleased to announce the Yvette Cote Memorial Mandolin Scholarship for string players interested in learning to play the mandolin and other mandolin family instruments. Named to honor the memory of Yvette Cote who established a national reputation as a rising star of the mandolin in the late 1940s and early 1950s. In her 60s, Yvett joined our orchestra and became the heart of our musical family with her extraordinary musical gifts, her vitality and especially for her sense of humor. Yvette played with us for 30 years until her passing a few years ago at the age of 94. Let her memory inspire others to continue Rhode Island’s long tradition of mandolin excellence.
