Tamara Volskaya and Anatoliy Trofimov will be coming to North Falmouth in September to perform and offer workshops on Saturday, September 24 7:00 pm at the North Falmouth Congregational Church.
Join the L’Esperance Mandolin Ensemble for a spectacular concert featuring Tamara and Tolya at 7:00 at the North Falmouth Congregational Church. Last year’s event sold out and raised almost $900 for the Cape Cod Center for Women.
Mandolinists Alert! Tamara will be offering workshops for mandolinists at the North Falmouth Congregational Church from 10:00 to 1:00 on Saturday. Learn how this incredible virtuoso got her training in the Russian conservatory system. Her musical interpretation, projection and phenomenal velocity are for sale.
Tamara is the leading virtuoso of the Russian 4-string domra. The domra is the Russian version of the European mandolin (of which she is also a master). Her renditions of the Carnival of Venice and the Flight of the Bumble-Bee are breathtaking gems of mandolin playing. In addition, to her playing, Tamara is a gifted teacher and served on the faculty of the Mussorgsky Conservatory before emigrating to the United States.
Anatoliy (Tolya) is a master of the bayan, a Russian button accordion. Tolya’s accompaniments evoke the richness of a full orchestra without overwhelming Tamara’s incredible virtuosity. He was chief of the bayan department at the Mussorgsky Conservatory in Yekaterinburg, Russia and has taught bayan and accordion masterclasses throughout Europe, Asia and the United States.
Tamara and Tolya perform a wide range of classical music from Mozart to Mussorgsky to their own brilliant arrangements of Russian folk music and gypsy and klezmer tunes. They have toured extensively throughout the U.S., Europe, Israel, Canada and the Far East and we are very fortunate to have them in the area for this weekend.
I’ve attached a Youtube clip of Tamara and Tolya playing of the Budashkin concerto for Domra.
